Hi, I’m Sylvie Hudson! I’ve been capturing moments through a lens since 2016, first as a semi-professional photographer and now as a passionate hobbyist. Photography has always been more than just a job for me—it's a creative outlet that helps me channel my ADHD and connect with the beauty of the world around me.
In 2020, I shifted my focus from professional photography to pursue a career in law enforcement, attending the Police Academy and dedicating myself to a different kind of service. While I no longer photograph full-time, I still enjoy stepping back into the professional world occasionally to shoot headshots, senior photos, and engagement sessions when time allows.
These days, my camera is often trained on the birds in my boyfriend’s backyard, where I find endless inspiration in their vibrant colors, unique behaviors, and fleeting moments of stillness. This blog is a collection of those snapshots, blending my love for photography with a deep appreciation for nature.
When I’m not behind the lens or on duty, I’m a mom to two amazing kids—a 6-year-old and a 2-year-old—who keep me on my toes and inspire me to look at the world with wonder. I grew up riding horses, so spending time outdoors feels like coming home to my roots.

My approach
My approach to bird photography is all about patience, curiosity, and connection. Armed with my trusty Canon R6 Mark II, I set up under a cozy blanket in the backyard, blending into the surroundings so the birds feel comfortable enough to reveal their natural behaviors. It’s a quiet, meditative process—waiting for just the right moment to capture their beauty and personality.
Once I’ve snapped the photos, the fun continues in post-editing, where I dive into identifying the species and learning about their unique traits and habits. Each blog post is a combination of these discoveries, paired with my images, to tell the story of the birds that visit my boyfriend’s backyard. For me, it’s not just about taking pictures—it’s about appreciating the life and wonder of these feathered friends and sharing that with others.

From there, I refine the results, ensuring the final images align with my personal style and storytelling goals. This approach lets me experiment with colors, textures, and moods, transforming ideas into unique, captivating visuals. By combining AI with traditional editing techniques, I aim to create images that feel both playful and polished, while showcasing the endless possibilities of creativity in the digital age.
